Laura Shaw (she/her) graduated from Queen’s University with a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) in 1998 and was called to the Bar of Ontario in 2000. Her initial interest was in the field of environmental law, but in 2003 she began her career as in-house counsel at the Children’s Aid Society. Laura is the parent of two teens and is an active volunteer with the Oakville Hornets Hockey Association. Laura is an LGBTQ+ ally and is committed to the practice of diversity, inclusion and anti-oppression.
Laura has extensive experience working with families and children, particularly in navigating the child protection system in Ontario, and in assisting with parents involved in related custody/access disputes. After 18 years of working at three different CAS agencies (Toronto, Niagara, and Peel), Laura decided to open her own firm to share her expertise helping children, parents, and families.
With her many years of experience working in family court, Laura can use her experience to help her clients navigate the system for the best possible outcome. Laura’s office accepts files throughout Ontario thanks to the wonders of technology but is in Halton Region and can travel within the regions of Halton, Peel, Niagara, and Waterloo. Laura believes everyone should have access to good legal representation and accepts Legal Aid Certificates.
